For the last few days, Postcards has sounded like a commercial for made-in-Vermont items! I have one more product to share with you and then I have to turn my attention elsewhere. After leaving Burlington, Becky and I wondered through the country and made our way to Vermont Folk Rocker in Starksboro. We had seen a brochure earlier in the week with a stunningly beautiful rocking chair on the cover. The brochure said to stop in for a visit and that's exactly what we planned on doing. The Vermont Folk Rocker was designed in 1974 by Jim Geier. Shaker inspired, he developed it out of a desire for a simple classic rocker. A woodworker by trade, he narrowed down his focus from furniture making to the lone rocker. |
The frame is constructed of solid hardwood. Joints are mortise and tenon, and will not loosen. The rope is a light brown nylon, 5/16" thick. The rope is strung very tight, and will give in just slightly. I asked Josh, who was threading the rope through the openings with a big needle, if they had to tighten the rope before shipping and he said it would never have to be tightened!
Well my friends, this concludes all my Vermont trip Postcards. For the next two days I will be making last minute preparations for the Coastal Caravan II. Becky and I will be pulling out bright and early on Monday morning for two weeks of camping on the SC and GA coasts with 20 of our best caravanning buddies! I invite you to check by each evening and pick up your Caravan Postcard. See ya Monday night!!
