Since we were flying by the seat of our pants for this quickie trip, we didn't bother to make a reservation for the night. Pigeon Forge has thousands of motel/hotel rooms, so we weren't worried. Bec did a bit of online surfing while I was driving and picked out a nice place for us to stay . . . the Black Fox Lodge. It was very close to everything we had planned to do and the ratings and reviews were very high.
It was a bit more expensive than we normally choose, but we decided to splurge a bit. Bec called ahead to see if they had a room available and we were all set before we arrived.
Before checking in, we hit our favorite antique malls and shops through Wear Valley. Becky found a few vintage Easter pieces and I picked up a couple of Pez dispensers. We always enjoy junkin' there!
Two years ago while at the Chuckwagon Cook-Off, we discovered the Smoky Mountain Popcorn Company and knew it was on our afternoon agenda as well. We both came home with a bag of the gourmet corn - Mochaccino for me and Almond Joy for Becky. The lady there was just as friendly as last time and let us sample oodles and oodles so we could narrow down our choices.
Everywhere we turned on Saturday and Sunday we saw Corvettes. A fellow we talked to in the popcorn parking lot told us there were over 300 in town for a convention. |
