For my third Postcard about the recent Tin Can Tourist open house in Maggie Valley, I'd like to showcase three more vintage trailers that I found really appealing. They include a 1967 West Wind, 1963 Shasta, and 1965 Zipper. Enjoy . . .

At the vintage trailer open house Susan and I attended on Saturday, we were given slips of paper on which we would write down the site number of the trailer that we thought deserved "best in show". Susan's choice was the Airstream Overlander that I featured yesterday. My choice was the 1971 Carriage Pullman that will be in the trio I share with you today. Enjoy . . .
Here are the first three trailers I'd like to show you. The first is a 1966 Arrow, owned by Herb & Barb Rash from West Jefferson, NC. The second one will be a retro-like 2009 Shasta Airflyte belonging to Susan & Larry Duke from Waxhaw, NC. The third one is a 1960 Airstream Overlander from Kings Mountain, NC, owned by Kim & Randy McPherson. It's not often that I see a pretty sunset from my little corner of the world on West 6th Street. There are simply too many trees and houses in the way. Last night was the exception! Welcome fall . . . I'm glad to see you again!!
Today's Postcard doesn't have anything to do with travel, unless you count sharing wonderful news from family who lives all the way across the country on the west coast. My cousin Cullen and his family live in Spanaway, Washington. This past weekend, his oldest son Patrick, graduated from Naval Basic Training. I just wanted to share their photos and news with you. Congratulations Patrick from your family over here on the east coast! We are so very proud of you!!
Saturday with my Carolina Sisters can be summed up with one word - LAUGHTER. Oh my heavens we laughed together! Besides the laughter, the day was filled with so many neat things . . . a visit from future Blue Ridger Kathryn and her friends, BBQ lunch with Susan at Allen & Bros., walks with Gracie, planning future outings with the Carolina girls, and an outrageous evening at our hot dog supper. Baby Gracie slept all the way home and has hardly budged since she was greeted by Murphy who wanted to hear all about her first solo camping trip. I'm so proud of her good behavior and tickled that she got to go with me this weekend.
To my new Carolina Sisters . . . thanks for a FUN weekend and I cannot wait until we meet again in another campground to do it all again! Big hugs to you all. Hey everyone . . . Gracie here doing my very first blog on my very first solo camping trip! Momma Sharon said I could be in charge of sending out today's Postcard! I'm having a really good time camping here at Jordan Lake State Park, but I gotta tell you something . . . it's wearing me out!! I like to take little cat naps throughout the day and I've been so busy that I've only been able to catch a few short oneschance. I was so tired last night, I was asleep within a minute of Momma Sharon putting me to bed! I have a little slideshow for you to look at that has some of the photos we took today. I hope you enjoy them!! My day isn't over yet because we need to take our third walk and plus, there's a big potluck supper I get to go to! I hope you had a good day and thanks for reading my very first Postcard!!
Gracie wants you to know that she would do tonight's Postcard if she could only keep her eyes open! She is totally exhausted and is sound asleep at 8:45. We pulled out of the Exon station after getting air in the tires at 11:11. Our trip to Jordan Lake State Park was pleasant and we took our time. We made a stop at Mickey D's in Asheboro for lunch and a potty break. We were greeted by Bob and Susan as we pulled through the campground looking for our spot. Our home for the next few days is site 069...nice and level, graveled, shady, and close to the bathhouse. Susan is right across the road from us. Set up was a breeze, albeit kinda muggy. Gracie watched from her portable pen. We chatted with Susan for a good long while and then strolled down to Robin's site to check on supper plans. She showed off her table, which is actually a painting ladder, that raises her Dutch oven up to a more comfortable height. Pretty cool. Gracie and I strolled down to the beach, but unfortunately no pets are allowed on the beach. We walked to the end of the beach and snapped a few photos. I was really hoping the sun would be in the perfect position for a sunset over the water, but it's a little too far to the left. Robin dished up the chili and fixin's at 6:30 and we all chatted, getting to know each other...Jenna, Robin, Deborah, Susan, and Ann. A few more Sisters will arrive tonight and tomorrow and I think our little outing will stand at ten. Supper was delicious, but I brought the baby back to the camper about 8:00 so she could crash.
I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep myself with the night sounds and cool temperatures. Thanks for stopping by and I'll chat with you tomorrow! Wow, this was one fast week! I'm not sure where it went exactly. Leisuretimers at church, a haircut, a couple trips to AC Moore and Michaels for Coastal Caravan supplies, Wednesday night supper at church, birthday greetings to Miriam, and lots of reading time account for some of the hours. I look back and don't feel like I accomplished very much. The only really constructive thing I did was make a batch of soap yesterday and build a couple more soap molds today. I don't have high hopes for my first solo attempt at soap making. It never did reach trace, even after an hour of stirring. I went ahead and poured it into a mold and we shall see how it turned out in a couple of months. The pups and I are off to the Wee Cabin first thing tomorrow morning. We have some yard work to do and some football to watch. If anything needs documenting, I'll see ya tomorrow evening. Have a good weekend everyone.
Man oh man, time sure did fly at our Meet Me @ Mountain Stream gathering! My five days with camping peeps went way too quickly. The pups are conked out around me, the Panthers are on their way to a victory over Tampa Bay, and The Coffee Cup is parked in her Javaport. Thanks so much for checking in with me each day to pick up your Postcard. Here's one last set of photos from one of our favorite campgrounds around . . . |
