Our first stop was a beach variety store specializing in all things coastal and nothing that cost over $9.99. I don't even remember its name, but it looked like just the place for a couple of sisters with shopping on their minds, LOL. One shirt, one sticker, and one pair of sunglasses for Bec later, we were on to stop number two. |
I have known about Duck Donuts for quite a while, but just never made the effort to go. Made one at a time, the donuts are cake-like and you have the choice of glazes and toppings. Bec got four and I got four. Two of mine were key lime-flavored and two were orange dreamsicle-flavored. It was fun to watch them being made!
Inside, we were greeted by great tunes, wonderful smells, and groovy decor. There was a long wait line even at 1:30 but we were quickly seated at the bar. The menu was extensive with all kinds of good eats and in the end, I got a Crabbie Pattie and Bec got a Mermaid Quesadilla with shrimp and crab. If you are ever in Buxton, you gotta go here!!
I told her that "Educated" was on my list, but she said I should read a few other things first after "Crawdads" and with that, took me over to a shelf and pulled two books that she thought I would enjoy. When I told her I loved to read about folks hiking on the Appalachian Trail, she suggested two more. So I came away with an armful of books and a smile knowing I had supported a local bookseller.
Thanks ever so much for dropping by so I could tell you all about our Buxton and beyond day! I'll have one more Postcard for you tomorrow evening and then it will be time to pack up and head for home early Sunday morning. See ya then.
