Since 1967 when John McLeod first started in a borrowed workshop just months after emigrating from Scotland, fine wooden products have been produced there. Cutting bowls, lazy-susans, salad bowls, wooden utensils, ice buckets, and wooden plates are their specialty. The whole showroom had an aroma of wood and we were mesmerized by all the sizes, shapes, and offerings, not knowing where to look next!
The only thing that I like better than visiting local enterprises is happening upon them unawares. On the last Friday of our Vermont trip, Becky and I were out exploring some backroads. We crested a hill and there on our left was the Vermont Bowl Company. Luckily no one was behind us because Bec pulled into the parking lot like she was a NASCAR driver! Vermont Bowl Company is located in Wilmington, VT on Highway 8. It's a private company and with very few exceptions, all the products we saw there are manufactured right in their own facility. The craftspeople are both men and women, young and old, with the longest serving having been with the company for over 30 years. Both Becky and I boosted the Vermont economy that Friday morning! They do a big mail order business, so you might want to do a bit of shopping yourselves….after all, the holidays are close by.

We did that same Nascar pull in last year leaving the N Adams mini-rally; only we had the camper behind us! Our purchase was two trays with an insert for the cup colder. Perfect for soup and sandwich and a glass of wine or other beverage. Just love the feel of the woodenware. Glad you stopped. Comments are closed.
