Happy Friday everyone . . . I hope you have plans for a wonderful weekend ahead! It looks like it's going to be a doozie in these parts. Let's go back to Mike and Rachel's place in Tennessee and take a look at another aluminum beauty with so much potential. The second trailer we explored inside and out was a 1948-49 Alma C80. William and Harold Redmond along with Allen Hathaway (designer) formed the Alma Trailer Co. in 1934. They touted the trailer as the “Most Livable All-Year Trailer” on the market. It was completely insulated with spun-glass wool insulation, making it cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Mike's Alma is 24 feet 10 inches long and was made in Alma, Michigan. The first models were produced in 1934 and production ceased in 1960. It also had an "improved" screen door that opened out, instead of in, swinging out of your way. In the windows of this trailer, we noticed metal grates. When we asked Mike about them, he said they were bear guards! The Alma also had a real bedroom that stayed made up all the time at the rear of the trailer and a davenport (sofa) in the front. Options included a 76" studio couch like the one below, or two salon chairs. Venetian blinds and a drop leaf table were standard items. All the interior wood was a beautiful birch. I did a bit or research online to see if I could find any additional information about the Alma, but there just wasn't a lot to be found. I did find an advertisement, a vintage postcard, and a couple of restoration photos. If you look closely, you'll see the same white refrigerator that is still in Mike's trailer. OK, that's it for now. I may send out another Aluminum Postcard tomorrow, but then again, I might not . . . LOL. I'm at the Wee Cabin for the weekend, so my next post might not be until Monday. In any case, I thank you for stopping by on this gorgeous fall Friday!

Have one just like yours. It was on some property we bought. I will have to make a front door. It had a shelter built around it. That saved it. Working on it now, Thanks John
