Because we will be traveling the Midland Trail in West Virginia in a couple of weeks, I suggested we find a AAA office in Asheville and pick up a WV Tour Book. So out came the GPS and we located the nearest office on Merrimon Avenue. Boy were we in for a big surprise when we got there. It was closed due to a HUGE sinkhole in their front parking lot!
We headed crosstown to another location on Hendersonville Road only about 10 minutes away. I was tickled to find out that the WV guide also included Kentucky and Ohio. We'll be headed to Ohio in August for a T@B rally and travel info will be needed.
On our way back towards town, we decided to stop at Richard's Stamp Shop in Biltmore Village Shopping Center. We met Richard at a postcard and stamp show many, many years ago. Originally he was located in Charlotte, but after 26 years there, he relocated to Asheville.
When Jessie was born, I started sending her postcards too, using a different stamp on each one. She has saved them all for the last 20 years and maybe one day we will sit together and look at the photos and stamps.
I love to go to Richard's and rummage through the boxes on non-cancelled stamps and pick out interesting ones to use on Jessie's postcards.
