I spotted an advertisement in an Ashe County visitor guide telling of a blueberry farm outside of Lansing where you could pick your own berries or buy them picked for you. It was Old Orchard Creek Farm and once Rob looked at the roads on Google, we were off!
In terms of miles, it wasn't too far away, but when you factor in all the different roads (NC 194 N, S Big Horse Creek Road., Little Horse Creek Road, Joe Hampton Road, Jack Jones Road, Swansie Shepherd Road), well, you get the picture.
We drove up a gravel road into a hollow and there sat the sweetest farm! It is a historic artisanal Appalachian farm, using sustainable farming practices.
The remainder of my gallon of fresh blueberries has been washed, stems removed, dried, put into baggies, and are now in the freezer so we can enjoy them for days and months to come.
Thanks for picking up your Postcard. I will have another one that will be delivered tomorrow to tell you all about Pond Mountain.
