It was easy to answer the question, but kinda hard to decide where to go. To celebrate the first day of fall, we drove up towards Boone and the High Country to find some brand new honey holes.
Way in the back of the first place, almost hidden on a corner shelf, I spotted half a dozen old flashlights. What caught my eye were the two that were silver and black. I snitched the batteries out of one to see if these two worked. Well, they worked too well.....they wouldn't shut off. So I tried a different model and it worked!
The little bulb was bright and the three-position switch moved smoothly. Of course none of them had price tags on them. So I marched right up to the front counter and asked the lady how much. She said, "How about $4.00?" and I said, "That's a bargain, I'll take it!"
A beautiful day in the mountains, a good lunch at a local watering hole, and two cool junkin' finds.....what a grand way to usher in fall here in NC!
