That was a great decision because we saw things that we've never seen in other museums! The quantity and quality of exhibits and war items on display was incredible...saddles, surgical instruments, weapons, uniforms, musical instruments, flags...we were impressed.
From there we drove up the hill to the two remaining museums... Women of the Civil War and War Memorial of Mid America. The women's exhibits were particularly interesting since I've never seen this subject treated in such detail before. We learned a lot about women being spies for both sides and the incredible number who dressed like men so they could fight along side their husbands! |
Lunch was with our KY peeps downtown at The Java Joint. We gathered on the porch of the golf course clubhouse at 5:15 for a slice of Bourbon Barrel Cake and to watch the running of the Kentucky Oaks. | We spent a leisurely Friday afternoon in the campground alternating between packing, relaxing, and visiting. Tink, the camping bartender, once again provided drinks during happy hour! That gets you caught up on our final full day of our week on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Caravan. What a grand time it was!! |
Once again, thanks for traveling along with us for the past two weeks and I'll be chatting with you later in the week!
