We awoke early to a heavy downpour on our little roof and campsite. It poured and poured and then poured some more. Finally around 10:00 a.m., Becky and I were able to make our way to the showers. Everything outside was soaked . . . chairs, footstool, mat, rug, cooler, picnic table, bicycle . . . just everything!
Because the weather wasn't fit to do anything around the island, we made a to-do list and hit the road. We made a stop at the Jekyll Island Welcome Center to pick up some brochures and maps. I caught a nice photo of the marsh across the road.
Next stop was gas for the Pilot and then lunch. Becky had spied a place just past the Sydney Lanier Bridge, so we headed back there to find a parking lot full of people, always a good sign. We were seated right away and both ended up getting Shrimp Quesadillas and we split a basket of onion rings. BEST quesadilla I've ever eaten in my life, honest-to-goodness!
Guess what else arrived as they were pulling into the campground? Yep, another downpour. Would you believe 3 inches of rain in an hour? If you've looked at the radar, we are the only freakin' place on the entire east coast with rain! Becky says there's some sort of system just hovering around us offshore and I believe it!
Finally the weather broke once again and we helped get Sue situated in her site as about half a dozen other Sisters pulled in all together. We grabbed Judy a little bit later and the five of us headed out to supper. This time we went to the Driftwood Bistro.
