We headed out of the campground at 9:30 and as soon as we got close to downtown, the traffic jams began! There had been an overnight fire at a local business that had many roads closed. We finally found spots on the upper level of a nearby parking deck.
First order of business was to buy tickets for a carriage at "the red barn" as Bob and Deb call it. We weren't able to get a ride until 12:40 because of all the folks in town.
For dessert, we bopped into a sweets shop and got samples of pralines...just the right size and free! | We had a rather long wait for our carriage ride because the tours were so far behind schedule due to the traffic, fire, and crowds. It was fun to have our whole group together in one carriage. Instead of being pulled by a team of strong mules, we had Deedee and Sally, a pair of small, high-spirited horses. In fact, they were the smallest in the stable! Jenny was our tour guide and she did a grand job of giving us information and maneuvering through the crowded streets! The ride was pretty chilly, but was really fun! After we got back to the barn, Becky, Sue, and I stopped in the Life Is Good store and gave them a little bit of business. Once back in the campground, Becky and Trisha visited while Rob and I hit the trails on our bikes. |
