I'll spend the next week or so filling in all the gaps of the rally, sharing more of my 1000+ photos, and telling you stories about all our fun. Thanks so much for dropping by last week to pick up your BRR Postcard. Take care and I'll see ya tomorrow.
Hey folks. I just didn't get around to sending you a Saturday Blue Ridge Postcard. There were two reasons for this. First of all, I took over 200 photos and just couldn't find the time to sit down, number them, edit them, and give them titles. Secondly, I didn't want to waste one single moment of the last day with my BRR Peeps. We kicked off our morning with a pancake breakfast served by the Foothills Kiwanis Club. President Sandy Headrick and her crew served up a meal that benefited the local elementary school. Bill's now famous Happy Dance drew a crowd of participants and onlookers. After handing out the last of the Make 'N Take signs, wire, and beads, it was time for the Blue Ridge Flea Market. Folks brought stuff to sell, trade, or give away. All over the campground you could find tables of camping equipment, T@B parts, and decorations to choose from. I set up my soap display in hopes of selling some bars. It seemed that everywhere you turned on Saturday, you would spot a Blue Ridger in a fancy hat. That was because it was Derby Day in camp! At 3:00, we gathered in our chairs, behind a glittery rope barrier and were treated to a Dutch Oven Cooking 101 class presented by Bill, Elaine, and Lois. I knew very little about cooking this way, but I've always enjoyed eating food prepared in these cast iron wonders. We got to sample a hash brown potato casserole and monkey bread. Late afternoon, Derby Day happy hours began to spring up all over the campground. The libations were flowing, laughter could be heard, and it was yet another excuse for folks to gather and have fun! That pretty much wraps up our last day of the Blue Ridge Rally. Many of us lingered around the campfire until the last log was burning low before hugging each other and heading off to bed.
