This past Saturday, we sought out Big Al's of Shiloh, a few miles outside of our Rutherfordton destination.
Our cheeseburgers all-the-way, tater tots, and drinks were delivered to us and we dug in. Yep, GOOD local comfort food!
Becky and I have an unspoken rule for our Saturday junkin' forays. No fast food joints allowed. No chain restaurants allowed. Instead, we opt for local eateries. We look for places, sometimes out of the way, where there's a parking lot full of cars. If there are construction trucks and police cars, all the better! This past Saturday, we sought out Big Al's of Shiloh, a few miles outside of our Rutherfordton destination. Take a look at the simplicity of the building, but notice number of cars. We walked in, checked out the menu boards, placed our order, then grabbed a table in front of the window AC. Local newspapers lay close by, folks came in to pick up call-in orders, a little girl was eating ice cream while sitting on her grandpa's lap, and there was a lively conversation going on at a table with six guys. Yep, local flavor! Our cheeseburgers all-the-way, tater tots, and drinks were delivered to us and we dug in. Yep, GOOD local comfort food! We're not exactly sure who Big Al is. His likeness on the sign at the road makes him look like a good guy. One thing we know to be true, they fix a mighty good burger and tots at Big Al's of Shiloh!
