You might remember at the 2012 BRR, I bought a CAMPMASTER sign right off her screen door from her. I'm still amazed that she parted with it! This place is a feast for the eyes and in the past, I've taken oodles and oodles of photos. This time around I focused on all the hand-made signs and the campground with vintage trailers for rent.
Laurel Springs, at exit 248 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, is just a blip on a map and a burp on the road. Not only is it a motorcyclist's hangout, but there's also Wild Woody's. To find an apt description of Woody's is kinda difficult. Part antique store, part junk shop, part snack bar, part campground would be a good start. For some reason, Daddy loved this place and we visited often on our Parkway rides way back in the 70's and 80's. The owner, Linda Lee Woody and her family made an appearance on the old "Family Feud" show when Richard Dawson was host. He was charmed with her personality, accent, and quirkiness, plus they won quite a few games. You might remember at the 2012 BRR, I bought a CAMPMASTER sign right off her screen door from her. I'll share all those signs with you today and tomorrow, if you drop by, I'll have photos of the vintage campers. Have a great Tuesday everyone!
