On Friday night of our gathering, Bill scheduled a community supper to be held at our SplashPad. Folks started strolling over about 5:30 with dishes in hand and before we knew it, we were having another feast! Katie made her Crab Imperial to share with everyone and in fact, there was lots of sharing going on! Fran brought a panzanella salad and there was also a loaf of artisanal bread that someone had baked.
You've probably figured out that our recent camping trip to Maryland was all about the food and friends. Camping and cooking takes on a whole new meaning when it's labeled as a DOG (Dutch Oven Gathering). In fact, I wasn't home 48 hours until I decided to host one next Spring, but that's another Postcard for another time. I cooked Maryland crab cakes and marinated shrimp on my big 12" lid and in doing so, knocked out my August Challenge, "Something's Fishy" award. Bill tasted one and deemed it most excellent. I heard Becky making little yummy noises too. Until you have experienced camping with your peeps and sharing a meal together, you probably cannot imagine why I love it so much! Thanks for stopping by today and if you drift back around tomorrow, I'll tell you all about our Sunday morning breakfast, hosted by Bill and Elaine. See ya then!
