We met Rich, Terry, and Gid this morning at the St. George Tucker House to hear a program in the Nation Builder series. Foundation donors have the benefit of attending these programs that aren't open to the general public and we try to take in as many as possible when we are here.
Colonial Williamsburg has hired a fellow (Curt Smith) to interpret young Thomas Jefferson and we spent well over an hour with him, first in, and then out of character. In both portions, folks are invited to ask questions and it adds another dimension to the presentation. After being on the job for a little over a year, he is already doing an outstanding job and it was quickly evident to us how passionate he is about this opportunity.
Our 2:15 program in the Hennage Auditorium was called "Jazz for the Holidays" and we listened to a very talented local group called The Harris Simon Trio (and friends). I won't name any names, but a few in our little party couldn't keep their eyes open . . . tee hee. Their names start with the letters R, T, and G!!
Afterwards, Becky and I hopped on the bus and went on back to the room. It wasn't ideal picture-taking weather for me and besides, Murphy needed some TLC.
Gid and Terry came over for supper at 5:00 and we had a great feast of ham, salads, and some cheesecake for dessert. No need to fight the crowds on this Grand Illumination Sunday when we had all the fixin's for a grand little meal of our own!
Tomorrow we have more programs to take in and there might be a trip to the Williamsburg Antique Mall too. No matter what we end up doing, you are invited to drop by to pick up your Grand Illumination Postcard tomorrow evening. See you then my friends.
