Last year, we discovered Citrus Unlimited . . . a citrus delivery from Florida with stops in the Carolinas. You might recall that I sent out a postcard called "Wendy and The Fruit Truck." The truck is back again this year and earlier in December, I picked up two cases for Wendy because she was working and couldn't make her citrus run.
I brought home a case of navel oranges and ruby-red grapefruit. Unfortunately, that's not all I brought home. Hitching a ride were some Florida fruit flies. We didn't notice them very much at first, but as the days passed, their numbers grew exponentially!
We swatted, we smashed, we chased them all over the kitchen until a light bulb went off . . . look on the internet for "how to get rid of fruit flies". BINGO!!
WHAT YOU DO: pour about an inch of vinegar in a glass, snip the corner of the baggie off and pull it over the glass, center the small hole over the vinegar, push it inward but don't let it touch the liquid, put the rubber band around the glass to hold the baggie in place, and wait
And that my friends, is the first of many exciting, helpful, mundane Postcards you can expect in the coming month. See ya tomorrow!!
