On Saturday, Becky and I drove to Landis to spend time with Rob and Trisha for one specific reason: to steal his idea of a lamp post to be used when camping to display flags and signs and make one of my own. It's a functioning light and will be useful in all those places we camp that are a tad on the dark side.
Now if you know Rob, he is forever dreaming up uber-cool modifications for his R-Pod. He is handy with tools, is a whiz at electrical issues, has helped me umpty-ump times with SplashT@B projects, and knows his way around a sewing machine too!
So when I saw his idea for creating a lamp post for his upcoming F.R.O.G. Rally and R-Pod Village, I just had to have one too for my upcoming Rolling Home Rally. We are all the time swapping ideas and modifications, so he was cool with the idea.
Rob used PVC pipe, fittings, and an actual outdoor lamp that he got at Lowes. He went through a few versions before he got the design that he was happy with. If you click on the photo, it will zip you over to his blog so you can read all about it. I pretty much followed Rob's blueprint with just a couple of deviations: I left mine white instead of spraying it black and I added two arms for holding signs and flags. Here's what mine looks like... |
In the meantime, I'm adding the finishing touches with color and flair and you'll have to wait until tomorrow for her to tell you all about that aspect of the lamp post project.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a great week!!
