I took a little liberty with that old saying, but boy did it hold true for our day!
Rich and Sue were in a different loop of the Trace State Park campground than we were. So when he came around early this morning, we just thought they were ready to pull out.
But we were certainly surprised with his news!
We have since talked to him and she will be staying in the Tupelo hospital one more evening before they head back to NC.
A quick look at the weather radar showed us that we were in for some nasty weather....heavy rain, possible hail and tornadoes. We left for the Trace heading south about 8:45, knowing full-well that we would soon run into the storm.
We arrived at the Jeff Busby station just as it stopped raining, so we took a short break and documented our presence there.
The rain continued off and on for the next hour or so. It was a bit unnerving when we drove through miles of tornado damage from 2011.
Just when we thought all our red sky warnings were over, we pulled into our campground. OMG!! I don't even know where to start. For just $20 a night, we have a place with a security door on the bathhouse, huge trash cans that say "NO FISH GUTS", dead and gutted squirrels nailed to trees, a dead snake in the road, a bunch of redneck trailers and there's only one word to describe this place... |
