I first tasted this yummy dish way back at an early Blue Ridge Rally when Cheryl and Randall brought it to our Saturday night potluck supper. The memory of that dish has never left my mind! I emailed Cheryl and asked for the recipe and within 24 hours, it was in my hands.
I experimented a bit with my cooking stand. Instead of placing the DO on top of my inverted supply can, I put it on the grate of our old Weber grill. Not only did it raise the height to a comfortable cooking level, it made a whole lot of sense for coal management.
My +3. -3, ring method (which I dubbed Sharon's Way yesterday) worked splendidly once again. The top of the cobbler was perfect with not one single burned spot to be found!
I dug straight into the middle of the cobbler and instead of waiting for it to cool off a bit, I eagerly took a big spoonful in my mouth. Lesson learned: be patient and let it cool off first!! It was definitely moist and had great flavor for so few ingredients. Next time I will add more cherry pie filling.
