Do you remember the half-hour comedy TV show "Alice"? It ran for nine seasons between 1976-1985 with 202 episodes being produced. The setting was Mel's Diner, a truck stop diner situated in Phoenix, AZ. We watched the antics of Mel, the diner's owner and cook, and his waitresses, Alice, Vera, Flo, Belle, and Jolene. |
Last Friday, Tink and I spent five hours looking at campgrounds for next year's Blue Ridge Rally. Around 1:00, with both our stomachs growling, we knew it was time for lunch. Almost at that exact moment, we found ourselves at Mel's Diner in Pigeon Forge and decided it would be a fun place to eat! The atmosphere inside is just what you would expect for a diner...checkered floors, booths with vinyl seating, 50's and 60's music playing, and good ole comfort food. We shared an order of fried pickles before tearing into a cheeseburger plate with fries for Tink and the Blue Plate Special of catfish for me. It hit the spot for sure! Check out the look on Tink's face when she saw her burger...it made her eyes cross...LOL!! |
