What started out as a pleasant morning turned into a caravan nightmare that seemed endless. Here's what transpired:
We had a nice visit at the Folk Art Center before hopping back on the Parkway toward Craggy Gardens. Becky and I tag-teamed the pups to give everyone time to look around at all the crafts, quilts, and National Park gift shop.
But with every mile, the fog got thicker and thicker. The temperature dropped into the low 60s. We didn't experience any rain, but we certainly drove through heavy mist. There were some places where Becky had to slow down to 20 mph because we couldn't see 10 feet in front of us! Being in the lead, we had no tail lights to follow. Our only guidance was the faint white center line.
At 6:00 we all drove over to Mountain Aire Seafood Restaurant for a much-needed supper out of the elements. Sitting beside the gas-log fireplace around a table with friends gave our spirits a boost. Needless to say, everyone turned in early hoping that Thursday would be a better day.
If you drop by again tomorrow, I'll have another Postcard ready for you to pick up and tell you all about our Raccoon Holler Thursday.
