After getting air in the tires and gas in the tank, I was on the interstate by 10:15. I had a great drive up I-40 and I just tucked in behind a long line of trucks who were limited to the right lane and 50 mph. I made a quick rest stop in TN and then exited on the Foothills Parkway to start making my way towards Townsend.
This campground, formerly called Tuckaleechee is under new ownership and we were moved to a different location. Basically we were told to just pull into whatever site we wanted to. Karen, our organizer, had saved a spot for me and Rebecca in the Bookmobile, right beside her. But I noticed straightaway that those sites were under huge walnut trees. NOT!
So I had a big decision to make...park under the walnut trees or choose another spot with no walnut-grenades, but really rocky and sloped. I love my SplashT@B too much for her to have baseball-sized dents! I have to tell you that I have never backed into or parked in a site so steep. I found the biggest rock I could find to put under the jockey wheel to get her level! But I can't complain because we are paying $10 a night...yep, you read that right!
Sisters pulled in all afternoon and at one time there was a line of four of them, with Rebecca and the Bookmobile leading the pack.
Sleep well...I know I will. Sister #1530 signing off for the night!!
