Yesterday Becky, Sue, and I went on a reconnaissance trip to Edisto Beach State Park with the sole purpose of seeing if it would be a suitable stop on the 2016 version of this trip. Without a doubt, YES!! It will be the perfect camping spot for beach-goers, kayakers, bikers, and those wanting to take a nap in the sun.
On our way back, we stopped for lunch at the Tomato Shed Cafe. Kathie told me about this place on John's Island last year, but we just couldn't work it in our schedule. Since it was on the way back to the campground from Edisto, we pulled in for a late lunch.
The Tomato Shed is one of those farm-to-table kind of places that we hear about that serves the freshest dishes with the freshest ingredients. Sue and I had veggie plates. Me: Geechie Girl Grits, Tomato Pie, Squash Casserole, and Homemade Pimiento Cheese with Crackers. Sue: Sweet Potatoes with Apples & Raisins, Beet Salad, Mac & Cheese, Homemade Pimiento Cheese with Crackers. Becky had Shrimp Salad and we all gave it three thumbs up!
Caravan life is pretty sweet when spending days and days with friends. I wish you were along for the trip, but since you aren't, I'm hoping you are enjoying your Postcards! Tomorrow is a travel day down to Tybee Island, GA and I will chat with you from there.
