In that pouring rain, we trudged down to the Visitor Center where we caught the shuttle bus at 9:00 to take us over to the Historic Area. After meeting our guide at the corner of Botetourt and Nicholson Streets, we walked over to the Archaeology Lab where we would spend the next hour and a half.
The program could have been outstanding, but our volunteer guide talked to us like we were third graders. Having spent five summers digging with the Colonial Williamsburg staff archaeologists during the '90's, I was really hoping that my T@Bbin' buddies would catch the excitement that Becky and I experienced when "digging in the dirt". I am rarely disappointed in the Foundation's programming, but this morning was the exception.
Everyone had mid-day programs to attend, so Becky and I reversed our course and went back to the room to dry off and warm up a bit before deciding our next move(s).
We made our plan and it included 1) quick shopping trip at the Pendleton Outlet 2) quesadillas for lunch at Qdoba 3) one o'clock movie - "Catching Fire" 4) Scottish fiddle player, John Turner, in a 4:00 performance at the Hennage Theater.
Rich and Sue were in charge of supper this evening and we all shared three huge pizzas, salad, and leftover pound cake. Throw in several hysterical games of Apples to Apples and that completed our day. The rain has moved on, the stars are out, and we are all looking forward to the next three days of sunshine!!
Here are some photos from last Friday to tide you over until tomorrow evening!
