Yesterday, we got our first mess of beans. I love that word, "mess". That's what I remember my Grandmother Ritchie picking and fixing in the summertime straight out of her garden. For those of you not familiar with the word, it simply means fresh veggies just picked from the garden on their way to the table.
While growing up I never ever thought about it being an odd way to refer to a basket full of vegetables that Mom Ritchie or Daddy or even Becky brought in from the garden.
Along with a turkey tenderloin and a squash casserole, those green beans hit the spot last night for supper. Tonight we get leftovers, plus a fresh peach cobbler for dessert. Don't you just love summer!! I'll share the peach cobbler with you tomorrow. Thanks for dropping in . . . later, peeps!!
