Our daily routine always involves time spent on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It doesn't matter if it's just a short ride to get us to another road or if it's an actual destination to a particular milepost, we are on it daily. Raccoon Holler Campground is mere steps away and you can add that to the list of why we love to camp in The Holler.
On Wednesday after a quick trip to Food Lion and a bit of t-shirt and sticker shopping at Mountain Outfitters in West Jefferson, we got on the Parkway and headed north. We stopped at a spot where we've seen an old barn, rusted truck, silo, and once-beautiful house many, many times and commented that we needed to snap some photos. So we did just that.
Rob turned Levi the Truck onto the gated road to the Doughton Park Back Country area and out came the chairs, down came the tailgate that served as our prep area, and we proceeded to sit in the shade of large oak trees and watch the world go by.
