Becky and I spent a leisurely morning of computing, reading, and hanging some pictures before heading out on a coastal adventure. Our plan was to drive up to Southport, NC and spend the afternoon junkin' and sightseeing. Let me give you the backstory of this Atlantic seaport and then I'll share my snapshots.
This quaint little town with its treelined streets features some of the largest live oaks in the South. You'll find a rich maritime history dating back to 1792 when it was called Smithville. The name was changed in 1887 in hopes of attracting a port.
