Becky and I had a deeply personal reason for visiting this park and in particular, Fox's Gap. It was here that 13 North Carolina regiments, including the 12th and 13th Infantry from Catawba County, fought under the command of General Samuel Garland.
200 feet south along Lamb's Knoll Road is an original wooded road that leads to the North Carolina Monument. The NC Monument is 20 feet from the original wall the Ohio troops came across. This is very hallowed ground for both sides.
