As we were strolling Main Street Lake Placid on Sunday morning, Becky and I were keeping an eye out for the ORDA Store. That stands for Olympic Regional Development Authority. This is where we would purchase our Olympic sites Passport, giving us a one time admission to four venues and saving us a chunk of change over visiting them individually. Sure we stood out as total tourists with those lanyards around our necks, but who cares. It was our ticket to two days full of cold chills and a thirty-year-old dream for me of seeing where it all happened! |
The "Miracle On Ice" was the pinnacle of Olympic excitement for me. Trying to keep that excitement under check that Sunday morning was extremely difficult as Becky and I made our way down Main Street to the Olympic Center where we would visit the museum, hockey arena, and ice skating rink.
Much to our delight, there was a hockey game going on. We got up close and personal and stood right at the glass. I looked down and under a row of seats was a puck. Becky will tell you that she hasn't seen me move that fast in a long time as I scooted over to snag it as a souvenir. I looked up and she had found one too! Best. Souvenir. Ever!!
