Our first choice was the Art Devlin (famous ski jumper) Olympic Motor Inn on Main Street. A big flashing red NO VACANCY sign greeted us. Not good! We drove on into town and tried the Best Western and found one suite left at the hefty price of $250. Gulp!
Next stop was a rustic looking place on a little hill called the Mountain View Inn, so Becky swung into the parking lot. It was my night to get the room, so I was crossing my fingers as I climbed the stairs to the office. One room left with a king bed. We took it!
We woke to chilly temperatures, but we bundled up and struck out to see what we could see. I was so excited to be in Lake Placid, that I didn't even care! Becky picked up a pretty maple leaf and it was an omen of good things to come.
We popped in and out of shops, bought some stickers, and got our Olympic Passport that would get us into all the sports venues we had dreamed about visiting.
Thanks for dropping in for another Postcard and tomorrow I'll tell you all about our Sunday Olympic experiences.
