So we loaded up the pups for the excursion and hit the road a little after ten. While still pretty chilly outside, it was a beautiful day to be out and about. To be perfectly honest with you, a slight case of cabin fever was settling into our household.
Yadkinville was the turn around point in our day, but that meant we had places to see on the way home. In Union Grove we spied another General Store and quickly pulled in. This place had hundreds of Case Knives for sale in addition to something else quite unique that caught my eye.
We were looking at a large Lodge cast iron display and in walked a lady that Wendy works with. They had a fun chat as we all shopped. One of those big black cast iron skillets in the window ended up in our trunk too! More serendipity and local shopping.
After getting quick directions while at the general store, we made our way through some beautiful countryside full of farms to this place. You simply will not believe how much we paid for a 2 pound bag of yellow stone ground grits . . . $2.00 and the same sized bag of cornmeal mix cost $1.50! Mmmmmmm . . . I see some good local eats in our future.
Check back with us tomorrow and I predict there might be a cornbread in a cast iron skillet Postcard to be picked up!
