Goodbye venerable Gateway, you have served me well. For 11 years you have always been there for me, faithfully performing any task I asked of you. Never once did you crash and all you ever asked of me was to provide you with a bit more memory. I endured your hulking, heavy tower and your maze of tangled cords. You burned several hundred CDs with tens of thousands of photos, stories, and special memories for me. Together we published newsletters, documented church minutes, wrote letters, stored invoices, sent email cards, communicated with our friends, paid bills, and even played a few games. In 2002, you were the latest, greatest, fastest bit of technology out there. While you continue to chug along for me and move slowly these days, it's time for you to retire. Thanks for the memories!! Hello my new iMac friend! You have big shoes to follow and high expectations to meet. I look forward to getting to know you better and I'm hopeful that you will play well with all the other Macs in the house. You look trim and come with no baggage, so I'm excited to have you join my technology family.

9 years? Wow, you really got your money's worth Sharon. At work we replace them every 4 years. At home I can limp along maybe 5 years at the most but 9 Years! Wowee!

11 Beth...not 9! Isn't that incredible? Every time I've turned it on for the last several years I've wondered if the screen is going to go black and it crashes. It's been a great computer and I may set it up in the studio to simply do photo editing on.

You will LOVE the iMac!!! We have one that is a few years old. Will never go back to PC's, although I still have an old Gateway laptop to run my machine embroidery software which is not Apple-friendly.

Hi Meli...I've been weaning myself off of the PC for several years now. First came the MacBook Pro laptop and then the iPad. I knew it was a matter of time until the old Gateway would be put out to pasture. About the only thing I've been doing on it for the last year was working with photos and burning CDs. Don't you just love Macs?! Comments are closed.
