We were discussing outdoor cooking using Dutch ovens. Deb said that she would love to learn how to cook using the big black cast-iron pots. Several of us nodded our heads in agreement. She then suggested we have a class. Out of that was born one my favorite activities at the recent Blue Ridge Rally . . . Dutch Oven Cooking 101 taught by our resident DO Gurus Bill, Elaine, and Lois!
On Saturday afternoon at 3:00 a couple dozen of us gathered for a cooking demonstration. The Gurus had already compiled information for us in the form of a pdf. that we were able to download, print, and bring with us. They also provided brochures from Lodge and as a bonus, we got a cute little Lodge decal.
Many of us came away with a burning desire to gather supplies, pick out a few recipes, and give it a whirl. Now, two weeks later, a whole crop of Dutch oven newbies have jumped in head first! We even have a Facebook group for our Blue Ridge DO Gang.
Here's a look back that most excellent workshop by Gurus Bill, Elaine, Lois, and sous chef Debbie.
