We were on the road about a quarter to nine, zipped onto I-84 after crossing the mid-Hudson bridge, and we pulled onto Route 6 at ten o'clock.
While there we also saw the train depot, old Erie Hotel, and the historic Erie Railroad Turnaround. Upon leaving, we crossed the Delaware and officially began our trip! Just down the road was the hopping town of Milford that was founded in 1733. Traffic was heavy, motorcycles were everywhere, and people were strolling the sidewalks. We headed straight through town for Grey Towers, home of former Governor Gifford Pinchot, founder of the U.S. Forest Service. Our timing wasn't so hot this time around and we missed getting in on the 11:00 tour. | Our first town was Matamoras where we stopped at the PA Visitor Center for maps and brochures. Inside was a really neat exhibit with all-things PA. |
We had a little hiccup in Scranton when we missed the turnoff, but we righted ourselves with little trouble. One place that was open was the Dorflinger Glass Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary and we stopped for a visit there.
Thanks so much for joining us this past week in VA, MD, and NY. You are cordially invited to follow us through PA this coming week! See ya tomorrow evening!! | Knowing that we shouldn't drive too far into the PA boonies and not be able to find a room for the night, we have stopped in Tuckhannock at the Hampton Inn. We have a luxurious room for the evening and will enjoy the Tony Awards in style. |
