It's time for me to zip this Postcard out to you, invite you back each evening, and to do a bit of reading before lights out. See ya tomorrow!
The whole Sigmon Crew has descended on Tanglewood Park - Becky, Murphy, Gracie, and I rolled into the campground at 1:30 and had Splash situated in site #2 lickity split. When we don't put out awnings or Clams or ice makers or tables or anything like that, we are set up in record time! We love campsite #2. Sure, it's as far away from the bathhouse as you can possibly get, but it's level, has a great view out the window, is paved, sits in the sun, and has room for Splish and Jake. The new chairs are a perfect match for Splash and will be so easy to carry around. I already love the fact that they pack flat and fit so well in the back of Splish. After I took the pups for a walk, they conked out for a nap. They have had an exciting day of travel and getting back into their camping routine again. Rich and Sue arrived about 11:30 this morning, Chuck rolled in about 3:00, Erin arrived just in time to join us for supper, Becky and Mike, and Colleen and David pulled in while we were out eating. Our supper spot of choice was just across the way at Chang Thai and boy was it good! Tomorrow the rest of the Chefs arrive and the camp Dutch oven cooking will commence. Not only that, but our temperatures will gradually rise throughout the weekend, so this promises to be a great DOG (Dutch Oven Gathering) here at Tanglewood Park.
It's time for me to zip this Postcard out to you, invite you back each evening, and to do a bit of reading before lights out. See ya tomorrow! We had a chilly start to our Saturday here at the Fantastic Frolic. I didn't even put on shorts, so that tells you it was a bit nippy. I had one of those rare-for-me tossing and turning nights, so I didn't wake up very refreshed. That set the tone for my day unfortunately. Instead of doing some exploring around Bluffton that I was considering, I spent the day in camp. We gathered for breakfast at 9:30 and while there, I set up my 6th Street Soaps for sale. Thanks to all who bought some bars! We had a little open house, so folks were strolling through the campground to see our trailers and ask questions. Splash got a whole bunch of compliments as I gave tours. I had a special visit from future Blue Ridger, Sue Wernersbach, who lives nearby. We chatted for a long time, then joined others for a hot dog lunch provided by the campground. After Sue headed back home, I just sat over at Peggy's and Jenn's for the rest of the afternoon. At 4:30, we gathered to head over to Bluffton for super at the Bluffton Seafood House. I ordered the Shrimp Reuben and it was de-lish! I had a good time listening to the myriad of conversations. A fellow was there playing live music and we pretty much sang along to everything he played. It was a fun time and I'm sure I'll go back there again. This was a grand gathering and I had a really, really good time this weekend. Thanks Sisters old and new for your friendship and I hope to see you in a campground again soon. Thanks to Jennifer and Peggy for planning such a fun gathering!
And thanks to all my Postcard readers for dropping by each evening to share in my fun. I'll be hitting the road early tomorrow morning and Splash wants me to tell you that she will be snitching the computer Sunday evening with some Stories to tell. Nite nite from the Lowcountry. It's hard to comprehend that there are over 8,400 Sisters in our Sisters on the Fly organization. When I joined many years ago and was assigned #1530, I remember feeling like I was a part of something really big. Now I just shake my head when I think that one day soon we will top 10,000! Whether you are talking about 8,400 or the small group we have here this weekend, we all have so much in common. We are strong, determined, adventurous women who do not hesitate to try something new and travel to new places all by ourselves. We meet and greet old friends and pick up where we left off the last time we camped together. We make acquaintances with women we would never meet in our lifetime if not for our love of camping, vintage trailers, and that adventure I mentioned. Today was one of those perfect Sister days . . . full of laughter, sharing meals together, learning about each other's talents, having easy conversation, sharing our stories, and talking camping talk. Here's what this Sisterhood looks with no explanations needed. What a blessing it is to be able to be part of this grand Sisterhood.
Thanks so much for dropping by this evening to pick up your Postcard and letting me gush a little bit about this weekend with my Sister-Friends. There's much more fun to be had tomorrow, so drop by if you have time. Nite nite from the 'hood. My Frolic Thursday started out wet. Rain rolled in about 3:00 and continued off and on until about 9 a.m.. I took my sweet time getting to the shower and when the last band of showers moved on out, I got to work. Today was moving day and I switched sites from 32 to 40. It was a quick trip and setting back up took hardly any time at all. I have a new view and am about 50 feet from the bathhouse. But the best part is that Splash and I are beside our besties, Rebecca and her Bookmobile. She was one of the first Sisters I met way back in 2011 at a gathering on Tybee Island and we have been camping off and on together ever since! It wasn't long before the Sisters started rolling in. Jenn and Peggy set up party central, decorating began, and I had to start learning the names of all the gals I have never met. There's a large contingent from the Low Country and I'm looking forward to spending time with them this weekend. My afternoon was a combination of sitting in the sun, visiting with the Sisters, writing some postcards for folks back home, making a couple phone calls, and just plain enjoying myself. Six o'clock rolled around and it was time for drinks and noshes over at the party tent. It probably wouldn't surprise you to know that there's always yummy food and delicious drinks to be had if the Sistas are around. With the temperature dropping quickly, we cleaned up after supper, then moved over to the fire pit to get warm. The campground is providing firewood for us this weekend and the big sugar cane pot with a roaring fire got us warmed up quickly. Our first Folic day with all the Sisters in the house was a fun one. It's going to be a chilly night, so the ceramic heater is on the counter keeping me and Splash toasty warm.
I sure appreciate you coming by to pick up your Postcard and thanks for sharing my day with the gals! Nite nite. It was a very breezy day down here on Lake Jasper. It made for perfect sleeping conditions early this morning and equally perfect conditions for sitting by the lake mid-morning and watching the dancing diamonds on the water. But now that the sun has gone down and the breeze has disappeared, the mosquitos are finding ways to get inside of Splash and I'm not having fun! But forget about that and let me tell you about my day. I spent several hours sitting by the lake and just enjoying a quiet morning all to myself. Splash basked in the morning sun herself. Knowing that it was going to be in the mid-80s, I put her window awnings on.
Lunch time rolled around and I decided to breeze down to Hilton Head and stop in at Jennifer's store called Art Ware Design. I bought a little sticker for my door and she gave me a magnet. She will be rolling in to the campground late tonight. Back at the campground I got in a great visit with Peggy and Vicki before pulling out leftovers for supper. We all thought that more Sisters would be pulling in today, but we are the only three here. Tomorrow that will all change! Thanks for dropping by this evening to pick up your Postcard. I need to kill a couple 'skeeters, but I'll be back tomorrow evening with another card. Nite nite!
